Welcome to the new official California Association of Neonatologists website. The California Association of Neonatologists (CAN) was created by an ad hoc meeting of the Directors of California neonatal units who met for the purpose of initiation, discussion, and development of ideas that will improve the care of infants and define, promote, and promulgate the standards for care of the fetus and newborn. The Association acknowledges the District IX Section on Perinatal Pediatrics and shares a common goal of improving the outcome of pregnancy and the care of newborn infants. CAN is a founding member and partner of the California Perinatal Quality Care Collaborative (CPQCC). CPQCC brings together a public-private alliance of stakeholders in the care and outcomes of California's mothers and babies. The Collaborative exists to improve the health of pregnant women, infants and children by collecting high-quality information on perinatal outcomes and resource utilization which will then allow for performance improvement and benchmarking processes in perinatal care and neonatal intensive care units throughout California.
